Blacksmith metal art in Northumberland

Welcome to Six Anchor Forge. I’m Steve, a former marine engineer and teacher turned blacksmith. Get in touch if you’d like me to create something for you.

Blacksmith forging metal in workshop

I have three different forges: A THREE-BURNER GAS FORGE, A CERAMIC CHIP FORGE and a coke/coal forge. I also have three anvils and a fully kitted out blacksmith’s / fabrication workshop.

I love making things out of metal

I enjoy making a wide variety of items, small artistic projects being my favourite, although I’ve also made tongs, hammers, fullers and axes. I usually make flowers, coat hooks, bottle openers, anchors, copperwork or any type of art project. I have previous experience in metal work and fabrication and, though I have attended some short courses in blacksmithing, for the most part I’m self-taught, building on my experience. I am a member of the British Artist Blacksmiths Association.

“The handmade remembrance anchor that Stephen made for me is a beautifully crafted piece, perfect for honoring those who served in the Falklands war, and remembering those who didn’t return home. Made with exceptional attention to detail, its sturdy design and unique craftsmanship showcase the skill of the blacksmith. This anchor not only serves as a meaningful symbol but also as a lasting, high-quality work of art.”
